The search for Grambling’s new men’s basketball coach is down to two finalists.
Following a month-long application process and more than a week of vetting candidates, Grambling athletic director Paul Bryant and his search committee have zeroed in on LSU-Alexandria coach Larry Cordaro and Stillman coach Donte Jackson.
Bryant told The News-Star on Thursday that Jackson was on campus Thursday for an interview. Cordaro will interview Monday.
“We have two outstanding candidates for our program. I’m excited to have them on campus and go through the process,” Bryant said. “I think they can transform our men’s basketball program and that’s something we’re looking for. I have two of them. The blessing is I have two. The curse is I have two.”
Grambling had 50 applicants officially apply for the position that was created when former coach Shawn Walker was fired in March following a 16-17 season, the most successful year the program enjoyed since the late 1990s.
