College of Charleston basketball coach Earl Grant signed a five-year contract extension that will keep him at the school until the end of the 2021-22 season.
In three seasons with the Cougars, Grant has compiled a 51-48 mark. The Cougars were 25-10 this season, including a 14-4 record in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Cougars advanced to the CAA Tournament championship game before losing to UNC Wilmington 78-69 at the North Charleston Coliseum.
“The key word is commitment and Earl is committed to the College of Charleston and we are committed to him,” said College of Charleston athletic director Matt Roberts. “He’s done a great job in three years of making the program competitive in the CAA and we feel like he is on the verge of taking us onto the national stage.”
