Weir interviewing at New Mexico

New Mexico State Athletic Director Mario Moccia has confirmed to NC9’s Beau Bagley that UNM reached out to NMSU, 4:00pm on Friday as a courtesy call regarding NMSU men’s basketball head coach Paul Weir.

Earlier in the day, several reports, from ESPN’s Jeff Goodman and Las Cruces Sun-News reporter Mark Rudi, have reported that New Mexico is speaking with New Mexico State’s Paul Weir to fill the vacant men’s basketball head coaching position with the Lobos. UNM fired coach Craig Neal on April 1.

Weir is 37, and just finished his first year at NMSU with a 28-6 record and guided the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament after finishing second in the WAC.
