Griffen hired at Syracuse

Jim Boeheim and Syracuse University stayed in the Orange family to replace Mike Hopkins.

SU announced Thursday that former point guard Allen Griffin has been named an assistant basketball coach at his alma mater, replacing Hopkins, who took the head coaching position at Washington last month. Griffin, who played for the Orange from 1997-2001, has been an assistant coach in college basketball for 15 years at the Division I level, most recently spending the past six at Dayton under head coach Archie Miller.
