TU hired former OSU assistant coach Danny Henderson. Golden Hurricane head coach Frank Haith announced the news Monday night.
Henderson was a longtime Texas high school basketball coach before moving to the college ranks. He spent last season with the Cowboys. Before that, he was an assistant coach at Boise State for three seasons.
At OSU, Henderson helped the Cowboys post a 20-13 overall record and reach the NCAA Tournament. During his three-year tenure at Boise State, he helped the Broncos win the 2014-15 Mountain West Conference title and at least 20 games each season. Henderson was responsible for defensive game plans and worked individually with the Boise State post players.
“We’re extremely excited to have such an established coach as Danny Henderson join our coaching staff at Tulsa,” said Haith. “He is an outstanding Xs and Os coach, who has developed an outstanding reputation as a defensive tactician. Danny had incredible success as a head coach on the prep level in Texas before moving to the college ranks, and certainly the relationships that he developed over the years in the state will only add to our recruiting efforts in Texas.”
