Linebaugh joins Rice staff

New Rice men’s basketball coach Scott Pera took the first steps toward filling out his coaching staff with the hire of Mark Linebaugh as assistant.

Linebaugh comes from Hobart College, where he was an assistant for three years. Previously, he was Director of Operations at his alma mater Colgate.

Linebaugh was a three-year starter at Colgate and ranks among the program’s top 10 in free throw percentage, 3-pointers made, assists, steals and career points.

Like Pera, Linebaugh has extensive ties to the high school game. He played and won a state title under Pera in high school at Annville-Cleona (Pa.) in 1999 and spent three seasons as head coach at Annville-Cleona, compiling a 45-30 record and making the playoffs for the first time in a decade in 2010-2011.
