Richardson extended at UMKC

The contract of UMKC men’s basketball coach Kareem Richardson has been extended through the 2020-21 season, the school announced.

Richardson, who is entering his fourth season at UMKC, has taken the Roos to the Western Athletic Conference tournament semifinals two straight years, the first time since 2003-04 they’ve reached the conference tourney semifinals in back-to-back seasons.

Highlights last season also included non-conference wins over Missouri in Columbia and Mississippi State.

“I can’t say enough about Kareem’s uncompromised commitment to competitiveness on the court and in the classroom,” athletic director Carla Wilson said in a statement. “Under his leadership and direction, we continue to be very enthused about where he and his staff will take this program in the coming years.”
