It didn’t take long for Notre Dame coach Mike Brey to fill the first of two staff openings.
Less than 48 hours after two assistant coaches left the program, Brey has made former Irish captain Ryan Humphrey (2000-02) his first hire, according to a tweet by his former teammate, Jordan Cornette.
Notre Dame has not confirmed the hire.
Humphrey, who spent the last two seasons as director of player development at Northwestern, was the 19th overall pick in the 2002 NBA draft. He played in the NBA for three seasons. Humphrey averaged 18.9 points, 10.9 rebounds and earned first-team All-Big East honors in his final season with the Irish.
