Hobbs joins ISU staff

Iowa State men’s basketball coach Steve Prohm wanted to be familiar with whomever filled the last vacancy in his staff.His latest addition has brought his coaching life full circle.

Iowa State announced Wednesday it hired former Alabama coach David Hobbs to serve as special assistant to the head coach. Hobbs fills the spot held by Neill Berry, who was promoted to assistant coach after T.J. Otzelberger departed to be the head coach at South Dakota State.

With 26 years of college coaching experience, Hobbs was the Crimson Tide coach when Prohm was a student assistant and manager. Hobbs was most recently an NBA scout with the Utah Jazz.
