Former NBA star joins LSU staff

Randy Livingston is coming home to Louisiana.

Livingston, the former LSU point guard whose promising college career was derailed by knee injuries, will join the Tigers basketball program Monday as an assistant on head coach Johnny Jones’ staff.

A New Orleans native, the 41-year-old Livingston will have a week to remember. In addition to returning home to join the LSU staff, the former Newman High School star will be inducted into the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame on Aug. 6.

“I’m very excited,” said Livingston, whose appointment must be approved by the LSU board of supervisors, in a university news release. “At the end of the day, coming back home was just too hard to pass up. I want to come in and work to help the basketball team win the ultimate prize.”
