Jankovich took over as SMU’s head coach Friday after Larry Brown abruptly resigned the post in the midst of a contract dispute.
Jankovich, who received a master’s degree from Kansas State in 1985, was not available for comment Friday.
The Mustangs went 25-5 (13-5 American Athletic Conference) last season while serving a one-year postseason ban for NCAA violations, including academic fraud and unethical conduct. They started 9-0 under Jankovich while Brown was suspended.
